Purpose: Learn Ways To Take Productive Action
The workshop will include an overview of the human rights situation for Palestinian children living under occupation with a focus on children ensnared in the Israeli Military Detention System where ill-treatment and torture is widespread, systematic, and institutionalized.
Participants will learn about the No Way to Treat a Child campaign that seeks to end Israel’s military occupation by supporting an extensive network of people seeking immediate protections for Palestinian children held in Israeli military detention.
Shaina holds a BA in political science from Columbia University and a J.D. from the City University of New York Law School. She is an attorney admitted to practice in the State of New York and serves as an Advocacy Officer at Defense for Children International – Palestine.
Her experience include working with children, guest lecturing at high schools and colleges, organizing and leading coast-to-coast advocacy tours, and bringing delegations to Israel-Palestine.
Her legal research has covered topics ranging from forcible transfer, the international community’s obligations under international humanitarian and human rights law, and the rights of prisoners and children.
At Kairos West Michigan, we work to unify and mobilize West Michigan Christians to take a stand for peace in Israel/Palestine. We believe that the time is right and that God is preparing the way for peace and justice in Israel and Palestine.
